“Style is the only thing you can’t buy. It’s not in a shopping bag, a label, or a price tag. It’s something reflected from our soul to the outside world—an emotion.”—Alber Elbaz

a Little bit about Me

I have had a passion for sewing and design since I was 13 years old. It is almost a borderline obsession. Although I am  not a professional fashion  designer,  the compulsive artistic need to design beautiful clothing has led to   the creation of   an extensive personal wardrobe that expresses  all the different facets of my personality. I would not be able to describe  to you my style because it continues to evolve as I journey through  life.  If I were do describe it in simple terms I would say that I love high-end textiles and simple yet  flattering silhouettes that are mixed with a bit of sophistication and edge.  I am also very particular about my shoes.  The shoes you wear can make or break your outfit.

I believe that style transcends age and time. I am 48 years old but I do not let that limit my style choices. That being said,  I do dress appropriate for my age since I am no longer in my 20’s.  It can be difficult deciphering which style and new trends are suited for you.   Looking at magazines and online fashion sites can be overwhelming.  There are many clothes that I love but I know they would not suit my age, personality or body type.   Discovering your style takes knowledge, self-awareness and hours of trying on clothes.   It  is a process that can be discouraging at times but very rewarding in the end.  Trends are fleeting but style lasts forever.

The clothes you wear reflect  who you are to the world.   I am introverted and may come across as quiet and reserved at first but this is only one aspect of my personality. There is more to me that I would like people to see  so it  is very  important that I express who I am through the clothes that I wear and not just through the words that I speak.    If I were to  dress conservative and boring I would probably disappear into  the crowd.  This can also apply to those who are super extroverted.  If you dress over the top no one will really know who you are underneath the  loud exterior.  It is all about balance and knowing who you.

The decision to publish a fashion blog was not an easy one.  Being introverted  certainly does not help.  However, the need to connect to the world on the topic that I am passionate about was greater than my need for privacy. I also see it as a tool for for improving well-being.   My life has been an interesting journey. I  had a career in the foreign service , living abroad and travelling extensively , but the last few years have been difficult. While I want my blog to help other women, I also want it to help me.  It is very easy to tell other people what they should do,  but practicing what you preach is a different story.  I want to practice what I preach. I am going to try to live by the mantra Every day is a fashion show and the World is you Runway.      When I put on an outfit that I love I feel like a different person.  I feel like my true self – strong, confident, young, sexy. and fearless.  So my resolution this is year is to dress as though the world is my runway. Hopefully the rest will follow.

My blog will not be a lifestyle blog. I will rarely venture into the topics of beauty , travel and where to eat.  It will simply  focus on  fashion, style and clothing design.  I am not a professional sewer or a professional fashion designer, I do not offer services or sew for others.   I just love to design clothes and my interest  is to share my passion for sewing and design with other women and provide them with the knowledge and  tools to dress with  confidence.  Clothes  are a form of art, evoking emotion and thought,  and each person is a blank canvas.  Everyone has the potential to transform their style and  experience the  joy  of dressing as an art.
